EU consults on Mortgage Credit Directive review

The European Commission is seeking views on whether the Mortgage Credit Directive remains fit for purpose. The review will assess whether the existing framework can adequately deal with new challenges such as digitalisation, the need to enhance sustainability and the Covid-19 crisis. The Commission also wants to ensure that the current rules continue to guarantee a high level of consumer protection, further the aims of the single market, and contribute to financial stability.

The consultation closes on 28 February 2022.
