The 2024 UK Payments Markets report shows:
- the continued popularity of debit cards and contactless;
- 85% of people use contactless as their regular payments method;
- one third of adults now use mobile wallets regularly – with older age groups gradually doing so as well as the young;
- however, cash is still the second most frequently used method of payment;
- technological developments are being used to provide additional functionality and choice, with significant infrastructure work being done.
