TheCityUK and ADS have published a report calling for the government to reduce perceived risks in the defence industry to make it easier for UK security businesses to access finance and investment. The report includes recommendations to:
- address procurement challenges that make investment in defence businesses riskier for finance providers;
- reduce the need for duplicative due diligence checks for SMEs that are MOD approved;
- reassure industry that sustainability rules do not prevent investment in or finance for defence companies; and
- create a new guarantee scheme for defence similar to the British Business Bank or UK Export Finance programmes.
