“Associate” appeal in sanctions designation case refused

Scales of Justice ( Lady of Justice) of the Central Criminal Court fondly known as The Old Bailey in the city of London, England, UK

The wife of an individual designated under the sanctions regime has challenged her designation as a person “associated” with him. So far, she has challenged the designation at administrative review and then in the High Court and Court of Appeal. All that is public is that the original designation was made on the basis of there being “reasonable grounds” that she met the meaning of “associated” within the relevant regulations. She then applied to the Supreme Court, saying that the designation, which has had significant and serious effects on her ability to deal with her own property, breaches human rights law, but her application was again refused.
