The Gambling Commission is consulting on whether to prohibit or restrict the use of credit cards for online gambling.

The basis for this proposal lies in evidence they have received suggesting there are risks of customer harm associated with using credit cards for online gambling.

An additional measure proposed would restrict the use of e-wallets for online gambling, unless the e-wallet provider is able to prove that they can prevent credit cards being used to fund the e-wallet in order to engage in gambling.

The Gambling Commission is also consulting on whether to extend any prohibitions or restrictions to credit cards for non-remote betting.
