The Joint EU-Japan financial regulatory forum has held its inaugural meeting. Topics covered at the meeting included:
- the regulatory cooperation framework under the Japan-EU Economic Partnership Agreement, and the possibility of coordination in international groups such as the G20
- the EU’s equivalence and Japan’s deference frameworks
- respective initiatives regarding sustainable finance, and
- the exchange of letters of cooperation regarding banking resolution.
The next meeting of the forum is expected to take place next year.
