FCA investigates CMC

The FCA has started an enforcement investigation into Consultation Claims Limited, a claims management company. It is concerned about the firm’s activities in relation to motor finance claims between April and December 2025, when there are suspicions that customers were signed up without their consent, including some allegations of forged signatures.

The FCA is looking into the full customer journey.

It has decided to announce the investigation so that consumers who may have unknowingly signed up or been given documents bearing a signature that they did not sign to complaint to CCL and then, if unsatisfied, to the Claims Management Ombudsman.

The FCA notified the firm of the investigation on 11 May and has not reached any conclusions as yet. The firm had previously agreed a VREQ under which it agreed not to take on new customers and to offer existing customers the right to cancel, but this was removed after CCL satisfied the FCA’s requirements for future conduct.
