EU reaches political agreement on DLT Regulation

The Council of the EU and European Parliament have reached a final compromise on a Regulation on a pilot regime for market infrastructures based on DLT.  The regime:

• sets out the conditions for acquiring permission to operate a DLT market infrastructure;
• defines which DLT financial instruments can be traded; and
• sets out measures for cooperation between DLT market infrastructure operators, national regulators and ESMA.
