FCA publishes research on crypto ownership

The latest FCA research on consumer attitudes and behaviours toward cryptoassets, 12% of UK adults now own crypto, up from 10% in previous findings.

Other key findings included:

  • Awareness of crypto rose from 91 to 93%
  • The average value of crypto held by individuals increased from £1,595 to £1,842
  • The most common source of information for those who had never bought crypto was family and friends
  • 1 in 10 people said they did not do any research before buying crypto

Notably, around 1/3 of respondents believed they could raise a complaint with the FCA if something went wrong and they were seeking recourse or financial protection.

The research comes as the FCA has updated on their approach to regulating cryptoassets.
