FOS has published its complaints data for Q1 2025/26.
Key statistics include:
- 68,000 complaints processed within the first 3 months of the financial year, with lower levels of complaints about everyday financial products like current accounts, credit cards and motor insurance;
- Particularly significant falls in case numbers on particular issues, including a 50% reduction in complaints about perceived irresponsible and unaffordable lending;
- The most complained about issue – motor finance commission – dropped from 36,000 cases in the last 3 months of the 2024/25 financial year, to 21,500 cases processed in the first quarter of this financial year;
- Fraud and scams complaints dropped to 6,800 – of which half related to APP scams – compared to 8,800 in the previous financial year; and
- 30,800 cases brought by professional representatives this quarter, compared to 36,600 the same time last year, with numbers anticipated to drop further in the Q2 data.
