The BoE has published its annual report on the real-time gross settlement (RTGS) system and CHAPS.
The RTGS Renewal Programme completed in April 2025, and introduced RT2, a new core ledger and settlement engine aimed at supporting central bank money settlement and innovation. The RTGS and CHAPS Board has also developed a new strategy centred around the themes of resilience and responsiveness, and five strategic outcomes:
- Enhanced functionality
- Access policies and technology
- Longer settlement hours
- Data standards
- Operational resilience
The BoE has also implemented a new tariff framework from RTGS and CHAPS, which launched from 28 April 2025.
