Treasury appoints AI Champions to lead financial services roll out

HM Treasury has appointed two AI Champions to lead the rollout of AI in financial services.

The new Champions are Harriet Rees and Rohit Dhawan, with both appointments taking effect from 20 January. Rees is Group Chief Information Officer at Starling Bank, having joined in 2018 to found its Data Science practice. She also serves as Co-Chair of BoE’s AI Taskforce and as member of the AI Consortium. Dhawan is Group Director and Heading of AI & Advance Analytics at Lloyds Banking Group. He is also a member of the AI Consortium.

The Champions will focus on helping firms seize opportunities quickly while protecting consumers and financial stability, and will report directly to the Economic Secretary.
