UK Private Capital has published a report on the role private capital plays in supporting the green transition. It notes that a monumental effort is needed to meet the net zero 2050 commitment, alongside tens of billions of pounds of additional investment. Private capital can provide flexible, long-term investment and direct capital into areas that support energy resilience. The report says private capital can:
- enable access to diverse financing sources to deliver the green transition;
- benefit from competitive and proportionate regulation and reporting requirements;
- drive growth by taking an engaged, hands-on role as active owners;
- bring expertise of backing innovation; and
- help companies benefit from the resilience of private equity.
The report gives examples of where private capital is already making an impact.
