FOS warns that festival refunds are not guaranteed

The FOS has clarified misconceptions around section 75 or chargeback claims, warning consumers that refunds of festival tickets may not be guaranteed. It also highlighted that it receives thousands of complaints each year from consumers who have had refund claims rejected, and that may not understand the rules.

Section 75 claims under the CCA cover purchases made by a credit card, point-of-sale loan or other finance where the product purchased is faulty, does not arrive or was not as described and the consumer is not able to resolve this with the supplier. In such circumstances, they may be able to claim back the value (up to £30,000) from their credit provider. A ‘chargeback’ lets consumers try to recover payments made using a debit or credit card, although it only applies in certain circumstances.
