The BoE has launched a distributed ledger technology (DLT) innovation challenge in collaboration with the Bank for International Settlements Innovation Hub London Centre.
The challenge aims to engage with the private sector to better understand the implications of incorporating DLT into wholesale central bank settlement. It invites firms to demonstrate how to securely transact and settle central bank money on an external ledger that is not controller by the Bank.
The challenge will run for around a month from mid-September 2025, following which there will be a showcase in October.
