The Treasury Committee has approved the appointment of Ashley Alder as Chair of the FCA. It discussed his views on relevant topics and competence for the role, and noted that, moving as he is from a jurisdiction of extensive state control in Hong Kong, he will need to show independence while understanding how the UK democratic system gives Parliament scrutiny over the FCA.
