FCA has issued a consumer warning on pre-paid probate plans. It has seen increased marketing of these plans, which are not regulated products. Many of them are marketed by pre-paid funeral plan firms that FCA did not authorise and whose customers lost money when they collapsed. FCA notes that pre-paid probate plans can be useful, but warns that since they are not regulated, customers of firms who offer them have no regulatory protections.
