The House of Commons Library has released a research briefing that looks at the future of local banking services and access to cash. The paper looks at the latest statistics on cash usage and availability of free to use ATMs, as well as the threats to the cash distribution industry of the move away from businesses accepting cash. It summarises the requirements in FSMA 2023 and how banking hubs and similar arrangements will help to plug gaps.
