Government commissions Transition Finance Market Review

The Government has now commissioned the market-led review into growing transition finance in the UK, originally announced in its 2023 Green Finance Strategy to help higher emitting companies and activities to decarbonise over time. The review will be led by Vanessa Havard-Williams and will look at how best to create the conditions for:

  • growing the UK market for new and innovative transition finance services, with a focus on using investments such as sustainably linked debt and transition bonds which are investible instruments that can unlock long term capital – while maintaining the integrity of climate goals;
  • how to maximise UK financial services’ ability to develop, structure and export high integrity transition finance services;
  • making the UK’s professional services ecosystem a global hub.

The review should report in July 2024, although there may be a further 3 month extension.
