UK Finance has responded to FCA’s consultation on its proposed Anti-Greenwashing Rule.
It supports FCA’s overall intent, but suggests several areas where the guidance could be clearer. Particularly, it wants FCA to:
- clarify how its expectations relate to each of the Rule’s requirements
- work closely with overseas regulators to ensure maximum consistency of rules and expectations
- confirm that existing COBS rules on communications and financial promotions apply to sustainability-related claims
- explain how the guidance will work alongside ASA and CMA guidance and
- clarify that the Rue applies only to claims about relevant products and services, and not to claims about firms more broadly
