An enhanced Free Trade Agreement between the UK and Switzerland has been through a sixth round of negotiations between 3 and 10 March 2025.
The Government considers that free trade agreements have an important role to play in the economic growth of the UK, and hopes that an enhanced arrangements with Switzerland will build on the existing relationship between the countries, which currently support 130,000 service jobs and over £17bn in services exports.
The UK’s focus in recent negotiations remains on agreeing ambitious outcomes in services, investment and digital trade, which are not covered by the existing arrangement. The Government reported good progress in the latest round of talks on financial services in particular.
The next round of negotiations will take place in the UK in early summer 2025.
