FSCS updates on compensation in 2025

The FSCS’ latest Outlook publication explains how the FSCS has now brought most of its claims management and all its customer call-handling in house, and as a result has halved the time it is taking to chase third parties for required data.

The current year levy of £356m remains as forecast and the FSCS thinks it is likely to pay only £315m  over the year, a decrease from its May forecast. It also hopes to recover around £40m by year end.

Its early forecast for 2026/7 is £342m – expecting fewer claims against SIPP operators together with a balance it can carry forward for this sector.
