PRA speaks on clinical supervision

Sam Woods has spoken on how banking supervision has evolved and what the role of a supervisor is now and will be in the future. He spoke of the differences between prudential regulation and the more interventionist supervisory role. He explained why banking supervision is essential and how the role of supervisors is to ensure compliance with regulations, and the ways in which a supervisor might do so. He looked at experiences in different jurisdictions, particularly comparing the history of UK and US banking supervision. He looked at the attributes a supervisor must have, and how the role may evolve.
