Government commissions banking service review

The Economic Secretary to the Treasury has commissioned an independent review into the availability of face to face banking services. It will look at the impact on customer of branch closures and will inform the Government’s stance on whether to use its proposed powers to intervene if evidence supports the need for more in person services. The review will report in October 2026.
