The FOS is consulting on its 2026/7 Plan and Budget. Headlines include:
- anticipated 188,000 new complaints across all products;
- resolving 245,000 complaints of which 60,000 will be related to motor finance commission;
- starting to receive complaints about BNPL assuming it comes within FOS jurisdiction;
- proposed increase in case fee to £680 and compulsory levy to £86m; and
- raising charges for professional representatives from £250 to £260, with credit if the complaint is upheld rising from £175 to £180.
It has also confirmed that, following previous consultation, it will be replacing the free case allowance with a monetary value of £2,000 for respondent businesses and professional representatives.
Consultation closes on 21 January.
