The FCA has published whistleblowing data for Q1 2026. Numbers were up on both the previous quarter, and the same quarter last year, with 355 new reports (with over 900 allegations in total) being received against under 300 in the previous periods.
The majority of reports were made online, with around 100 by email and 50 over the phone, and nearly 70% of whistleblowers shared their identity.
As usual, the largest numbers of reports were around Consumer Duty, leadership (including firm conduct and integrity), systems and controls, and then individuals.
The FCA closed 265 reports during the period, and took significant action to reduce harm in 9% of cases and other action to reduce harm in 30%. In half the cases, the information informed the FCA’s work, but with no specific further action.
