SME liaison panel gives BBRS views

Antony Townsend, Chair of the SME liaison panel, has responded to the BBRS Post Implementation Review. The panel is pleased the report recognised the issues the scheme faced. However, the panel is concerned that the report could be interpreted as saying the scheme met stakeholder expectations, which it says is not the case. The response says the panel wants to continue to try to find a way forward, but says there must be proper debate on how the scheme has not fulfilled its objectives – not least because very few cases have gone all the way through the scheme, while the also very few cases that have gone down the concessionary route have in the main been rejected by the banks.
