The Conservative Manifesto, published on 11 June, contains few surprises for financial regulation. It priorities:
- building on the various co-operation agreements it has already signed, including with the EU and Switzerland;
- remaining the leading market for fintech start ups;
- building on the Edinburgh reforms to make the UK continue to be the world’s most innovative and competitive global financial centre;
- cementing the City of London’s position as the leading global market; and
- maintaining the highest standards of consumer protection and prudential regulation.
